The Longest Day of The Year - Summer Solstice 2010

Magnificent and all aglow, the heavens are on fire
with colour and celebration on this the longest day of the year.

Golden, I am golden,
a fiery sun burning with a never ending flame.

Red hot centre combusting,
radiating outward,
wave after wave fueled by a magnificient wind,
whirling, blowing life into the feeding flames.
I am alight, radiant, glorious.

Raging heat, the nucleus of creation,
throw me down into your molten heart,
transform me in your crucible.

Forged in the white heat to arise
a phoenix from your flame.

Base to precious,
lead to gold,
transmutation,
alchemy.

Yesterday in My Garden

Isn't it amazing how the weather can change how things look. Yesterday it was sunny, birds were singing and bees buzzed their way lazily from one flower to another. Today the rain is dripping from green leaves, darkening the earth and pavement, wet petals sing their colour from dark corners, blossoms still bright against a dark sky.

We have our own weather systems, we each have our rainy days, our storms, and those special days that are overflowing with sunshine. I suppose we should take comfort from the fact that just as the rain refreshes the garden and helps it to grow, that the rainy days we have, do the same to us . . .

Some photos taken yesterday in my garden.

It is a glorious privilege to live, to know, to act, to listen, to behold, to love.
To look up at the blue summer sky; to see the sun sink slowly beyond
the line of the horizon; to watch the worlds come twinkling into view,
first one by one, and the myriads that no man can count,
and lo! the universe is white with them; and you and I are here.
